The support here at Zoho sucks to say the least. I had received a call from a consultant to find out if the zoho platform was fitted for our business..We had a discussion and was told that he would get back to me after reviewing my email with related issues.
It s been almost a week and not reply.. I left a message as well but no reply as yet.
If Zoho wants to compete wiht other providers they have to step up. Honestly I love the ease with which I am able to creat applications. The downside though is that the system lacks the functionality of other providers. I know that zoho is not in the same league as BungeeConnect however they need to strive toward improving Zoho creator else they are going to get left behind
Caspio, Longjump and others are contantly improving while here at Zoho things are going t snails pace
Dont get me wrong, I love the zoho apps and feel compelled to look for updates and improvements however I think they should concentrate on a few apps and make them amazing rather than scrambling with the various apps which to be honest fall short compared to other providers. This being said I will be watching zoho closely and at present I dont feel that that zoho creator for example is evolved enough for high end business usage at the moment particularly when users have to be zoho registered users.
I've been all over the web for online database applications and from what I've found. Zoho is superier as far as ease of use and rapid deployment. If they can just get the relational database capability defined they will be spot on. Their support is not the greatest but it is OK. The product rocks though. Just get the ability to do a nice master detail dual form relationship and a few other functions.
We are really sorry for what has happened. Generally we reply to queries in one business day. We missed you query somehow. I have replied to your query and also posted the reply this query in the forum .
Can you please let us know if you can list out any specific features that you are missing in Creator, it will help us in improving the product. I want to assure you all that we take your feedback seriously.
@steve_caldwell : Thanks for your kind words. We will soon take up this soon. You will be able to create flexible views once we implement it.
I hope I didn't offend anyone here at zoho. I know its tough to manage thousands of users. Charles has responded in kind to my support requests which is great. Just to echo Steve above I do feel that Zoho is superior in terms of ease of developement and rapid deplyoyment. I do agree that it is much easier to develope with Zoho creator and I am sure additions will be made contantly. Sure enough things have changed dramatically since I started using Zoho creator way back when it just launched. Maybe its just that I have been innundated with the wave of new SaaS develpement platforms available and have seen improvements all over the web.
I do beleive that the Zoho team has definded itself as somewhat of "All rounder" of web 2.0. I really dig the zoho business and dont believe there is a comparable product out there. Force.com developement interface is not that user friendly and your ideas cannot evolve on the fly as is the case with zoho. Force.com has extented itself to allow adobe flex integration which is a great addon for businss users who require rich graphing and charting experiences.Not to say that zoho charts are not great, but in my experience for financial business applications, users need the rich internet application feel to be attractive to them.
Well anyway, I am looking forward to what zoho has to offer and I am sure they will come to the table. You do have my support!
I think the product is great and getting better everyday. Just seems like yesterday that we couldn't even create or delete records. Look how far Creator has come in a quick time. Support is good and getting better also.
I don't think you would have such a persistent and demanding set of users if they didn't already love the product. So to the Creator team, keep up the good work and keep in mind that all of our request, frustrations and venting is really just a sign of how much we need and love the work you do. Maybe we don't say thanks enough.
I would like to thank Charles for his great efforts. Charles has provided excellent service and has really done all in his power to answer my questions. I retract my initial unqualified statement regarding Zoho support.
I am following up ZC from almost a year, and as a non-developer (kind of self learning) i have to ennumerate some things in this moment:
1º Thank you Zoho Team for your products; 2º Thank you Binarysprinter and Scriptlogic for sharing your knowledge and helping the community doubts; 3º Thank you all contributers in this forum for posting and answering with code examples;
As i didn't understand coding language or coding logics, i started to make a simple form in ZC (with no handed code), but then i started to read posts this forum and to read the help documents, and i get it how to make some "tunings" in my basic form...
Then, like many other users, i had great help from some contributers, specially Binarysprinter and Scriptlogic (they deserve unlimited plans for free!
And now, i am so addicted to Zoho Creator, that i still keep making several changes, improvements, etc...
AND WY I AM SO ADDICTED TO ZC?
1º Because this tool is simple and easy to learn and, because of that, it is also easy to explain to non-developers how to setup things; 2º Because of the dynamic of this forum, and some advanced users: Several shared doubts are posted, and we always have an answer, almost of the times with code examples. And the best part is that we can grant permissions to developers for helping us... (Thanks ZC team, Binarysprinter and Scriptlogic ;)).
3º Because ZC have a free plan (despite the increasing of limitations);
4º Because if compared to any other competitor that i had tried to learn without success (Access, VB, PHP, Ajax/Java GUI's), Zoho Creator is far superior in the curve of learning, in simplicity, in timing saver, in less time to achieve what i wont, etc... (To be honest, i feel that not even in a million years i could achieve the level of development of my application in other GUI or language code!!!) Added: To be very, very honest, never crossed the "starter line" in other tool...
5º And finally, i start to understand some programming logic and i started to make some progresses in coding... could you imagine that?!?!?!
From my real experience:
Is hard to image, but my simple form started to proving that is the best way (after testing several tools/strategies) to make more efficient the information management in my job. Now is in one place, and shared for 5 persons, but made to respond to our needs, (and still is a basic and simple application). Before we starting using it, we had several limitations due to lack of control of the information, and we were always kind of disappointed with our working performance. When i shared my application with my co-workers, they started using it, although with some negative attitude. But, now they started to asking me more improvements, new functionalities, etc..(and some of theme i have to say "wait, wait, that is to hard to achieve... i have to learn how to do that...or ask for some help")
and that is not all:
They are now so enthusiastic with this application, that i am surprised with the effect of "team building" that the application caused as they are working together to improve this!
And all this thanks to what??...
To an non-developer that found a real easy GUI web building apps; to a great support team and a great user's forum; to it simplicity an it time saving in development; to a real easy and understandable way to learn and explain coding logic.
I can imagine and understand your job... and in the middle of a hard working days, sometimes all we need that someone remember us not "what we still have to achieve", but "what we have already achieved"...
Regarding to Zoho Creator, keep that in mind
