Even if you set the MX records as you have specified, the Email will be delivered only to a particular server based on the priority and availability at the moment. You can point the MX to Zoho and set up the Zoho accounts of the family members who wish to use GMail, as POP account there. Since you are using Outlook, Zoho supports folders like Outlook, you can set up the Zoho accounts as IMAP in Outlook.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to have the same domain based accounts set up in two different mail servers.
Zoho Mail IMAP client is still under build phase, and we cannot commit a time frame on when it will be made available. We will be announcing in our Blog pages and Whats New sections, when we add the feature set.
I REALLY NEED the Zoho IMAP client; it costs me a LOT of time to maintain my e-mail in 2 places, Google AND Zoho. So please speed up building this feature. I am near to moving away as a ZohoCRM customer because of this.
Another function I asked for several times (via e-mail) is a permanent link between e-mails in Zoho and the contact/lead/account. This is because currently Zoho is dynamically linking e-mails to contacts/leads/accounts based on ONE current e-mail address. And when an e-mail address of a contact/lead/account changes, all e-mails with the old e-mail address are not connected any more, so the history is LOST (this could cost me money or goodwill of my customers). It should be possible to attach e-mails to contacts/leads/accounts permanently and it also should be possible to use more than 1 e-mail address to link e-mails to contacts/leads/accounts..
These are really important functions for me (and I think for a lot of fellow users), so please give this high priority.
We understand the importance of IMAP client functionality in Zoho Mail requested by many users. As we were held up with some high priorities, we were unable to provide this features as expected. We expect this feature may be rolled out in future (but could not commit any time frame).
We will update it in our What's New page once this feature is provided.
We see that you are using Zoho SMTP for sending mails out from your POP account (Gmail), so the sent mails will be only in Zoho Sent folder and will not be in the Gmail Sent folder.
If you wish to have Sent mails listed in both Zoho and Gmail, click Settings in Zoho Mail --> Send Mail As --> edit the from address >> choose Custom SMTP >> enter the SMTP details given by your mail provider >> Save. Refer Send Mail as help page.
Hello Zoho Team, I see that Zoho as added Scribbles as a tool to Zoho Mail. How does something like this get ahead of a basic productivity tool like Zoho Mail as IMAP Client? Every other Mail systems has this functionality. When will Zoho make this a priority? Managing mail in multiple locations kills productivity. Thanks
It looks like you have misunderstood our previous response.
Zoho Mail can be accessed via IMAP in other email clients. The detailed settings are available in this help page. The Zoho account can be accessed via IMAP and Active Sync in other devices and managed from any device. The changes in any of the devices will be reflected in the webmail, and other devices as well.
Our earlier response is related to accessing other email accounts via IMAP in Zoho Mail. Currently Zoho Mail allows you to access the external account as POP inside Zoho Mail. No other major webmail provider supports the feature of accessing external account via IMAP.
Hello Ramya, Thank you for replying to my question. I set up my Zoho Mail account (email@example.com) using Exchange and it now works properly with iPhone.
I also use Zoho Mail to manage my other IMAP email accounts (firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com). I set up Exchange with these accounts as I did with zoho.com; however, they do not function the same. I can not mark as Read or Unread or Delete and have these actions happen on all devices and all Desktop or Mail Clients. In my other Mail Clients (except Zoho Mail) if I delete an IMAP email in Outlook or MS Live Mail, it deletes the email from my iPhone and vice versa.
I want to set up the same functionality using Zoho Mail. If I delete or read an email in Zoho mail, I want the email to delete or show read in iPhone and Outlook. Is this possible?
This is possible, if you set up email hosting for your domains domain1.com and domain2.com with Zoho. Refer here for the detailed Email Hosting process.
By default, when your set up Zoho Sync or Zoho IMAP, only the Zoho account gets synced with the configured devices. The other accounts accessed in Zoho via POP cannot be accessed in external devices via POP/ IMAP or Active Sync.
In case you do not wish to switch your hosting, you may access your other accounts in Zoho from m.zoho.com, the site designed for mobile devices and mobile access.
Regards, Ramya A
