Each of our tasks have a number of hours that the employee has to
respect. But most of the tasks needs more days than what the system
calculates. Is there a way to override the dates?
Let's say our project manager sends a design to be approved by
the client. We create a task for 15 minutes but we give 3 days for
the client to get back to us so the task should be 3 days with a
duration of 15 minutes.
Another scenario is if I have a task of 40 hours for a programmer
and I want to give her/him more than 5 days to complete it because we
might need her/him on support that we can't really plan.
In a project template, you can specify dates and duration. That is
perfect. But when the project is started, if you move a task, the
days are not respected.
Can you help? I think this is basic project management and
it's probably me that is missing something. Our old open source
system (Web2Project) could do it.
I've tried the work hours and it does not seem to work.
I have created a task that starts August 3, duration 5h, work hours
1h. End date is still August 3. Shouldn't it be August 7?
If I follow your example, it works but the assigned employee has to
calculate the work hours and the days to know how much hours is
allowed on the task. And the project manager has to do the same to
know if the task was completed in the allowed time.
How hard could it be to do like the other project management system
and let us input the start date, end date and duration in hours?
We are loosing too much time on project management since we
switched to Zoho. Please help.
If there's anyone with the same problem, set the start date and end
date, don't set a duration, that's where I was wrong. The
duration goes in Work -> Work hours (use the drop down, it's not
work hours per day).
By default, when you select Works Hours option in the Task details
page it will automatically stick in Work Hours category for the other
tasks i.e the categories will show up the recent used one when you
setup work hours for the upcoming Tasks. Please do check the same.
To help you understand the work hours and duration of task, we like to have a phone conversation with you. Please share your contact details to "email@example.com". We will call you and assist you with your queries.
