I just subscribed my company to use Zoho Docs and went through and created a folder structure in my folders only to find out that I cannot share the folder with the rest of my users.
I am trying out creating groups to represent a folder structure, but this is not ideal, will see how this works for a month to decide if we will continue with the system, if anyone has an alternative i would appreciate any advice.
! If you could give me an idea when we are looking at this feature it would be great.

I hoped that ZOHO on paybasis offered this essential foldersharing functionality.

We need this in our NGO - tons of documents and users..
After a terrible experience with trying to get the Google Docs API working, I found that zoho was such a relief... However, sharing capabilities are far too limited to meet my needs, as I am sharing 100's of documents with multiple editors.
- I can't seem to unshare multiple documents with a single click
- I can't seem to share folders
Additionally, the search option is not very usefull. After I perform a search and the matching documents are returned, I want to be able to select one or multiple of them and perform share/unshare actions.
This is really keeping me from using Zoho as a professional...
I will switch from google apps to zoho docs if a shared folder function was available. Big drawback, looking for that complete solution.
Any update on this? Would love to see this feature.

just started our own NPO and an OnlineMediaCompany
had a look and tested similar services on the net, favoured dropbox (unfortunately missing other important features) and basecamp... finally decided to use ZOHO, started building up a structure for the companies, sadly finding out today that no folder-sharing is available. glad to hear you guys are implementing this! thumbs up!!!
any idea if this is going to be in september?
we are so busy that we might use the dropbox solution for the time beeing, but if you say the feature is coming soon, we could wait a couple of weeks...

I thought Zoho had this feature and planed to switch from Google Doc to Zoho. But it doesn't have this feature.

another feature missing (maybe i couldnt find it) is "publishing on the web", like googledocs does... would be even better with option to set password for users to view the published page/sheet/doc etc...
i know you can do this for a page/book in notebook, but without a password-protection... i think this feature would come in very handy also for single sheets / docs over zoho business!
It's been well past the time line that this feature was suppose to be resolved. Can we get another estimate when this feature will be added???

This really is such a fundamental piece of functionality. If I had reaslised that this wasn't available then I would never have signed up. Right now for me Zoho Docs is pretty much useless without this capability - really annoying.
Please can someone at Zoho confirm when this functionality is due to be released? Just look at the number of hits this thread gets, surely someone at Zoho has to be reading this?!?

same here, been watching this thread for long time, i use zoho for my small consulting biz but not moving clients onto zoho because of this. soon hopefully. Other than that I really like my zoho. You get folder shares going and you will get business users not just us nerds.
We are a new start up company and we really need the feature of sharing folders as soon as possible,

Is there a way to give permissions to allow my assistant to delete files from workspace when no longer needed? I need that option!
Hi Sathish,
The sharing feature seems to work fine between users with the "workspace" folders. This solves that problem.
My only concern now is that these workspace folders can only be one level deep, there is no options to create a folder within the workspace folder. Some people, including myself, have quite a lot of documents that need sharing. It would be much more efficiant if the workspaces allowed sub folders to sort the docs. To keep it simple the subfolders could just use same permissions as parent folder.

Also, in the workspace I noticed that only the creator of that workspace is able to upload files into that workspace. Those who share the workspace can view, edit, etc. depending on their permission but they can not upload their own files. Is there a way to open the workspace so other users can upload files into that same workspace?

Currently, only owner of the workspace can add/upload the document. We do have plan to provide the settings, where workspace owner can configure whether the shared user can add files to workspace or not. We will enhance this feature and release it asap.

just made some tests:
adding workspace, then trying to delete it, i get the message:
Oops. the system encountered a problem.. please contact support@zohodocs.com
error appears only if trying to delete it from the right all-workspaces-view "the red X"
error doesnt appear on "rightcklick-delete-on-the-workspace"
thus in OPERAbrowser you cannot delete a folder or workspace at all, because right-clicking doesnt work...

there is an extra option for sharing folders. dont confuse "My folders" with "My workspace"!!! only those in "Workspace" are shareable!
also, is there a possibility for you guys to add "infos or popup-infos" or some other kind of "alert" or "messaging" if there are "new features" or "made changes upon requests" added to zoho? so that we all know that something has been implemented upon entering/loging into our account?

one very irritating issue:
if i upload docs/images into "my workspace" then they also appear inside "my folders"... is this really necessary?
it is kind of irritating, especially when uploading many docs into "my workspace", then deleting some one day, uploading new ones... entering "my folders" i find them all inside there, even the deleted ones...

We have listed the document in "My Folder" section, since many user wants to delete the document from the workspace and not completely delete from Zoho Docs. However, We will look into it and enhance the same.
If the document is deleted from "Trash" folder. It will get deleted completely and wont be shown anywhere.

I have recently set up a small design business on Zoho and I'm testing the service for a larger company that are interested in switching. A few things have caught my attention:
1. There are lots of very useful applications, ideal for a start up business. The meeting application is excellent.
2. There are bugs in just about every application.
3. The document storage and sharing capabilities is a real limitation:
4. Unable to share calendars.
5. A standard approach to your queeries on the forum:
"Thank you for your kind words, we are working on it and it will be coming soon...Please be patient"
Despite a lot of issues if Zoho gets the calendar sharing and document sharing functions right then I would choose Zoho ahead of Google Apps and Salesforce.
Is it just me, or Workspaces can only be shared with individual named users and not with entire groups?
So currently I have:
- individual files can be shared (but only one by one) with groups
OR
- entire workspaces can be shared with individuals (but only one by one).

Currently, you can invite or share your workspaces to individual users/members.
You need not share files one by one, we have provided an option to select Multiple files and share to Users/Groups or add to Workspace. Also, You can also share entire Workspace to more than one users (Upto 10 email addresses can be given at a time).

Hi. Total newbie here, but workspace doesn't seem to allow the unzip action, nor can I find a way to move/copy folders to workspace after having unzipped into my folders. I think there must be a way... it would seem odd that the fix to share folders wouln't allow uploading or moving of folders...? Anyway, love zoho, but this ability is pretty crucial for me. Can someone out there please tell me how to get folders into my workspaces?

Currently, Unzip and move entire folder to Workspace functionality is not available. Will provide this asap. However, You can move multiple files to Workspace at a time. To move multiple files to workspace, select multiple files and right-click and select "Add to Workspace" in the displayed menu.

Is there anyway to download multiple files from a workspace at once? I work for a Realtor and she shares the pics and then I pic them up to market them. However it is quite tedious to do one at a time. Why can't I check them all and save as to my computer? I am listed as a Collaborator.
