By default, Zoho Creator Forms support basic validation for field types. For example, if you define a field to be of type Email,  Zoho Creator checks if the data entered in the form for that field is a valid email-id, else it will display the error message "Enter a valid email address for <field name>" to the user.  You can also make a field value to be required,  make a field value to be unique, set default values etc from the GUI.

Zoho Creator  can perform the functions you mentioned in your blog like Hide/show field values based on values in other fields, change the value of a field based on value selected in another field,  validate field values, make read only values etc. by adding Deluge Script.  Please refer the relevant Help Links for more info.

• In addition to the default validation,  write action scripts for custom validation of form data
  
• Modify form contents dynamically, on form load. For example, to set a date field with the current date
• Perform an action after a form data is persisted, For example, receive email notifications
• Perform field actions, like Show/hide fields based on value selected in another field.
• Display items in a list based on selection made in a previous list

About the application:

The application comprises of a Contacts Form and a  Contacts View. The Contacts Form demonstrates the following features in Zoho Creator.

- Sets the Date field with current date when the form is loaded.
- Displays items in the State and City list based on selections made in the previous list.
- Displays the Phone No. field only if the check-box "Do you have phone no" is selected as "Yes"
- Validates that the Name field is not left blank.
- On submit, sends an email notification to the given email address.

To view the script that does the above actions, you can copy the application to your account by selecting More Actions -> Copy Application option and view the scripts from the Script tab.
